What's in store for Run Talk Run in 2022?

Happy New Year!

Whether you’re a Run Talk Runner, a Walk Talk Walker… or someone who is thinking about maybe coming along someday this year, then I send you a massive high five and “WELCOME” to our groups that we’ll be hosting this year.

The ethos of our groups, and the reason for our existence doesn’t change: we aim to increase accessibility to mental health support. Our plans for 2022 are reflective of this.

What this means is that we aim to create safe spaces for YOU to turn up to (whatever your ability, sexuality, gender, race, ethnicity) and be able to speak freely about how you’re feeling whilst moving.

Just so that you’re kept in the loop with some of our plans for the year, here is a bit of an overview…

We’ve appointed a new Community Manager

Her name is Marti, and she has been volunteering for Run Talk Run for over a year now. Marti has already been sinking her teeth into some of the fun admin that’s involved with keeping up a community like Run Talk Run and between her and me (Jess), we’ll be working on looking after the amazing groups that are already running (/walking) whilst looking at what we can do to support even more people. Hopefully by having another person supporting the community we’ll be able to respond to your enquiries and support our leaders even better than before.

Reaching more people who need support

Our peer support groups are so easy to set up that we think every town and city ought to have one. This year we’ll be focusing our attention on towns in the North of England where there are currently fewer RTR and WTW groups. If you know someone who would be a great Leader for RTR/WTW please do ask them to email us via the contact form.

Tell us about your 2022 challenges!

This year we’ve made it easier than ever to fundraise for Run Talk Run so if you’ve got a challenge in mind for 2022, please do send us a message if you want to learn more about what’s involved. With a minimum fundraising target of £50 and a free T-Shirt if you commit to doing your challenge for us, it’s well worth exploring.

Sharing your story

In 2022 we would love to highlight your story. Whether that is of your own journey with mental health, or just your experiences in finding friendship or belonging at a RTR/WTW group… we’d love to hear it. Have a think about whether this is something you might be interested in and we can get the ball rolling whenever you’re ready.

I’m really looking forward to a year spent getting to know more people in this ever-growing supportive community.

Hopefully I’ll see you at a RTR or a WTW very soon.

Jess
